BAGLIO ONETO LUXURY WINE RESORT

The Baglio Oneto dei Principi of San Lorenzo Luxury Wine Resort was originally an ancient noble residence of the 1700’s, now a fabulous 5-star hotel located in Marsala on a hill 150 meters above sea level and only 8 km from the a sandy beach . Its dominant position allows you to appreciate  the spectacular view of the sea, Egadi Islands and the Nature Reserve of the Stagnone Islands, up to Mount Erice on one side and Capo Boeo up to the extreme western tip of Sicily on the other.

Still managed by the descendants of the Oneto family, the Resort is a real Luxury Boutique Hotel, receiving its guests with kindness, cordiality and attention to detail. Guests can enjoy a unique welcome, which the owners identify as the “noble art of hospitality”, the cuisine of  “La Calandra” Restaurant and the historic “Refining Cellar” where you can taste wine and extra virgin olive oil produced on the property, making it a perfect destination for those looking for a first-rate wine and food experience.

The term “Baglio” comes from the Arabic language and means “Fortified House”. Baglio Oneto is protected by high walls and was built for the production of wine, oil and fresh produce, to this day under the careful management of the family, 8 types of wine are produced , including the famous meditation wine Marsala D.O.C. and extra virgin olive oil.

Today the Resort consists of 49 rooms, restaurant, bar and a panoramic swimming pool that overlooks the sea and islands. Specialized staff with accompany guests their booked room.  Categories from which include: Superior Room with views of the countryside characterized by olive trees, vineyards, rose bushes, prickly pears, etc. ; Deluxe room with sea view; Junior Suite room with a private lounge. All rooms have a balcony or terrace, the rooms floors are tiled and corridors leading to the rooms are carpeted to avoid any noise. The rooms are finely furnished in traditional and typical Sicilian materials (wood, wrought iron and ceramics) and are equipped with the most innovative comforts (Samsung Smart TV, Memory Foam Mattresses by the famous Dorelan, etc) .

Those who want to immerse themselves in history can stay in the Suite located in the ancient 1700’s tower., which is characterized by the terracotta floor, tufa-stone walls, wooden beams, wrought iron bed and 3 big windows from which you can admire the properties landscape and view of the Egadi islands, with the possibility to enjoy the splendid terrace above the tower equipped with 2 chaise longue chairs . It is the only point on the property from which you can admire the 360 ​​° landscape view. The ancient tower is equipped with individual air conditioning, flat screen Sat TV , a Dorelan Memory Foam mattress and chromo therapy shower.

Not only comfort and hospitality, but also  great gourmet cuisine at the “La Calandra” restaurant  with typical Italian and Sicilian dishes, paired with wines from the best Italian wines and those of Baglio Oneto dei Principi di San Lorenzo’s production.

At the “La Calandra” restaurant you can discover Italian and typical Sicilian cuisine of which, in themselves, embody the desired concept of the birth of the gourmet movement: a cuisine that can be genuine and fully satisfying to the palate. The aromatic herbs that grow inside the baglio, giving the restaurant’s dishes the ancient flavors of the Sicilian tradition.

Since we say “A day without wine is a day without sun!” our wine list offers a careful selection of wines. Including those of the owners personal production. An oenology tradition followed for generations.

The restaurant and its internal location are characterized by gabled roofs and typical stone entrances that were once where ovens were located for the production of bread and pasta. During the summer it is possible to have lunch outside on the panoramic Terrace of Venus overlooking the sea, islands and the famous Mount Erice where the Castle of Venus rises, while dinner is served in the historic courtyard, characterized by a unique well, this is the heart of the ancient baglio, where the evening the atmosphere becomes intimate and romantic. Flambè cuisine, a la carte , vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free (AIC certified   – Italian Celiac Association) are all available.

The wines and oil produced by Baglio Oneto are the result of the sun, land and its salinity, an ancient tradition of Sicily, a Sicily that remains alive with memories , its colors, scents and flavors.
The visit with wine, oil tasting accompanied with typical products that takes place in the historic refinement cellar of the estate is strongly recommended. Another moment not to be missed is the aperitif on the “Terrazza di Venere” where you can see a breathtaking sunset and savor cocktails made with our wines.

In a dedicated area, away from the rooms and swimming pool, several meeting and conference rooms are available, seating 10 to 400 people in a theater style, ideal also for hosting congresses, events and weddings (official civil ceremony also available).

10 Km from the city of Marsala about 10-15 min. by car (Museum of the Punic Ship and Archaeological Park with a visit to the Church of San Giovanni and the Cave of the Sibyl, Museum of the Tapestries, Chiesa Madre (Barocca), Bastion of Villa Cavallotti, Fish Market, Municipality of Spanish construction, recommended walk to the seafront  monument to the Thousand, Porta Garibaldi and Cassaro for shopping) – Florio / Pellegrino / Donnafugata cellars. From the port of Marsala hydrofoils leave for Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo.
