TOP 5 WEDDING VENUES IN BRIANZA

Dear friends, I recently dedicated a blog post to the city of Milan. This week I decided to not travel too far, in my exploration of the most beautiful wedding venues in Italy, and focused on the top 5 wedding venues in Brianza.

Brianza is a sub-region of Lombardy, spanning across the area between the outskirts North of Milan and the southern shore of Lake Como. It comprises part of the province of Milan and the provinces of Monza, Como and Lecco. Its magnificent landscapes and natural reserves will be the perfect setting for your wedding reception. Expect it to be very green: the name Brianza is said to derive from the ancient Celtic term Brig (hill, nature).

When you think of a wedding in Brianza, you can’t help but consider that it is conveniently close to some of the main cities in northern Italy. It is both strategically located and blessed with extraordinarily beautiful natural landscapes.

Let’s start with a beautiful historic mansion. We are in Meda, one of the many small towns in Brianza. This building dates back to the early XIX Century and it started its life as a Benedictine nunnery. Its majestic architecture is still as impressive as ever and its unique atmosphere will charm and enthrall you. This Villa makes an ideal wedding venue, with its ample grounds and splendid interiors. The Choir Hall is particularly impressive, with its XVI centuries frescoes, while the vast porch and colonnade will allow you to hold an outdoor reception even if the weather is not as fair as you hoped it would be. The cloister is an incredibly versatile space, with its almost 11000 square feet, and so are the neoclassic halls. Villa Antona Traversi offers a wide range of options to the couples that choose to get married here, allowing the creative management of its different spaces, in order to divide the reception into differently characterised moments. It is also possible to celebrate civil wedding ceremonies on site

This is Villa Giulia – Al Terrazzo Hotel and Restaurant, barely two miles from central Lecco. The first feature that will strike you when you visit this venue is the breath-taking scenery you will be enjoying. You will be surrounded by a calm and romantic atmosphere in a refined building, with elegantly finished interiors, ceiling frescoes and imposing fireplaces. This venue is just as perfectly suited for a summer wedding as a winter one, thanks to its main hall with panoramic glass windows, which can be left wide open in the hot season or closed and heated if the weather requires it. Villa Giulia also boasts vast grounds, in which to welcome your guests for a memorable wedding reception.

When shopping for wedding venues in Brianza, Como is a must-visit destination. Casiglio Castle is an expertly restored XV Century manor, located in the countryside, six miles from the City. This venue will enchant you with its unique atmosphere. You will have two spectacular halls to choose from: the Imperial Hall, with its characteristic medieval brickwork, and the Pillar Hall, with an impressive capacity of 300 people. This is a modern and welcoming space, with ample glass windows overlooking the castle’s ancient garden of green and red beech trees, cypresses, scots pines, palms, laurels, walnuts and pomegranate trees. The grounds cover an area of approximately nine acres.

If you get to the centre of Annone Brianza, you will find a beautiful park, which contains an ancient building, known as “Antico Borgo Della Madonnina”. The charm of this XVIII Century villa is still intact and the structure has been restored to offer plenty of options for grand wedding receptions, both in the villa itself and in the grounds that surround it, covering almost five acres. The vast interiors of the villa will not only serve as the perfect venue for your reception, but can also be used to celebrate your civil wedding ceremony.

Last but by no means least, in my personal selection of the top 5 wedding venues in Brianza, is the spectacular Villa Trivulzio di Omate. This venue is surrounded by one of the most luxuriant and romantic gardens in Brianza. Prepare to be astonished by this monumental Italian garden and the ancient park that surrounds it. The overall atmosphere is at once dreamy and sophisticated. The interiors are beautifully decorated and furnished. This venue is ideally suited for an elegant and exclusive wedding reception and it has the advantage of being conveniently close to the city.
