Better be safe than sorry on your wedding day. In an earlier article we explained what is necessary to create a nude and luminous make-up look fit for a wedding. Today, we will be discussing what is to be avoided for a bridal make-up.

Bridal make-up

Our personal list

No smoky black effect on the eyes. As popular as it has become in the last few years this is not adequate for a bride. Brides would be better off going for a fresh, angelic look, to go with a white wedding dress. Dark tones around the eyes would create too much contract and confusion on the final look.

Don’t go over the natural lip line with lipstick! This may be a technique used for other occasions but on your wedding day this is an absolute no.

Avoid glitter on eyes and cheeks. It may make you look immature and it’s also highly un-photogenic.

It’s best to play it safe on your wedding day so no new techniques or styles to try out. Other than the make-up rehearsal, it’s better to keep to a look and style you’re used to.

Maintain a similar skin tone to your natural one. This means nothing over the top, like fake tans or excessive skin cream. After choosing a dress, the hair and make-up is decided and put to the test. All the ideas and conseguent decisions for your bridal make-up, are based on the desired skin tone of your special day. This means that whatever you choose with your stylist should remain so and not to make drastic changes at the last minute. All colours are chosen based on the desired skin tone, changing that could drastically change the whole pre-arranged look.
