Dear friends, our journey through the beauties of Italy, as we search for the best locations in which to plan your wedding, has come to its next station. Since Christmas is upon us, I have thought of a destination that can be said to be a proper winter wonderland, with dreamlike snowy landscapes. This week I’ll show you just how perfect and romantic a wedding in Trentino-Alto Adige can be.
As you all know, Trentino Alto-Adige is equally beautiful in winter and summer, but in the cold season you are in for some lovely surprises. Just think of how charming it would be to reach your appointed wedding location on a sleigh, for instance, and of how pleasant that journey would be, as it would take you through a silent and glistening mountain landscape, rather than the chaotic streets of your average city.
If you decide to celebrate your Wedding in Trentino-Alto Adige, you should allow yourself to be inspired by your surroundings. This is, after all, what artists from all over the world have done before you: think of the famed Grimm Brothers, who based some of their most popular tales on the wonderful and mysterious castles of this region.
If you are a hopeless romantic, you might want to consider the magnificent castles that are to be found here. They date back, for the most part, to the Middle Ages and retain all the charm that comes with their long history. Picture yourselves standing in a castle, on a mountain, looking out of the window at the valley below and drinking in the peerless, wild natural landscape, glistening in the crisp winter air: what could be more romantic than this?

On the other hand, if the mountains, to you, mean rustic simplicity rather than splendour and grandeur, you could opt for one of the many little wooden cottages that are to be found in the snow-covered valleys of Trentino-Alto Adige.
If you want to be closer to a proper urban settlement, you could also get married in one of the splendid local towns and cities, rich in history and sharing a particular style of medieval architecture, with all the comforts of a modern tourist destination.
Speaking of comfort, Trentino-Alto Adige is equally suited for a wedding in the wilderness and to one in the lap of luxury, since plenty of excellent five-star hotels are available, and they are the ideal choice if you want your wedding to be an exclusive and sophisticated event.
You can’t go wrong with Trentino-Alto Adige: whatever theme you pick for your big day, you will be able to find the perfect location and the snow will set it off with an extra touch of magic.

The traditional hors d’oeuvre include plenty of soups, whose function is to prepare you for the following courses. A typical example is the Canederli soup, a spicy luxury of knödel and beef liver. A risotto is an excellent first course, as it offers a wide range of options, from mushrooms to potatoes and several other ingredients. Main courses in Trentino are entirely meat-based and game, particularly venison, is a local favourite. If, however, you can’t contemplate the idea of a banquet without fish, trout is your best bet: it is excellent when cooked in grappa or according to the traditional South-Tyrolese recipe. Among the strong suits of the local cuisine, cheese also plays a major role, as do desserts, particularly the ubiquitously popular apple strudel. And finally the local wine, which also enjoys worldwide fame and which will grace your table in the form of a sophisticated Pinot, a delicate Chardonnay or an exquisite Sauvignon.
A winter wedding in Trentino-Alto Adige is the ultimate magical, romantic fairy-tale. Nature, with its colours and sweet scents, will provide the perfect setting for the happiest day of your life. So, how would you like to get married on a snow-covered mountain?
