Hi everyone, I am Enrico Meloni and I am a musician.
For a few years now, I have been focusing mostly on private events and on weddings in particular. I am here to give you a few tips on how to choose the right musicians for the most important day of your life.
I’d like to tell you a bit about how I plan the musical entertainment for a wedding. I usually schedule the softer, more mellow part of our repertoire for the welcome cocktail and the aperitif. That’s the section of the event when guests who may not know each other need to get acquainted and chat, and therefore need lower volume and a relaxed atmosphere. During the meal, I discourage the use of live music, in favour of a discreet musical background, only loud enough to cover the waiters’ footsteps and the clinking of cutlery. The livelier, more upbeat section of our repertoire, I save for last, for the final part of the event, when it’s time to hit the dancefloor.
My advice when choosing musicians for your event is to go to one of their gigs and hear them play live. This will not only give you a real idea of their musical skills, but also of what kind of professionals they ae and what their show will look like.
Enrico Meloni: musical repertoire
The bands I manage differ widely from one another. We have two acoustic duos: the GL.EM Acoustic Duo, with male vocals, and the CINNAMON Duo, with female vocals. They are ideal for events that require an intimate and romantic atmosphere, but they can add a spark of rhythm and energy by adding a loop station to their set to get extra impromptu percussions. If you are after something more lively, our band The GrooveFellas might be the right choice for you. They are a five-man band (bass guitar, drums, keyboard, guitar and vocals, with all band members also singing backing vocals) and they have a vast repertoire and can accommodate any request.
Once you have chosen the perfect musicians for your wedding, don’t forget to request any specific song you want them to play in advance, but also trust their professional experience: look at their proposed set-list and allow them to stick to it as closely as possible.
My last tip for you is this: be very careful when selecting musical entertainment, because at a wedding, just like in a movie, the soundtrack is paramount.
