Dear friends, today our journey through the many wonders of Italy will move from big cities to small villages. We are going to explore some of the most romantic villages in Italy.

There are thousands of villages in Italy, from old hamlets to the many small towns that are to be found in every Italian region. These settlements hold an essential part of our historical and cultural heritage and this contributes to their timeless charm. Each village has its own unique blend of history, culture, art, natural beauty and tradition.

It goes without saying that, if you are considering a destination wedding, there are few adorable and incredibly romantic villages in Italy that would make for ideal wedding locations. Celebrate your love in a castle or an ancient square, among quaint little houses and breath-taking landscapes. There are several advantages to getting married in an old village. For one, you’ll get an excellent choice of venues that you are unlikely to find elsewhere. For a religious rite, you could book one of the hundreds of tiny village churches that abound in every Italian city. For a civil one, in most cases you will be able to book the main square of the village by simply asking the city council for permission, so that you can create a really unique experience for your guests. Unlike traditional wedding venues, these options will allow to experience an authentic Italian wedding, with a live band playing and long tables for a large party of guests.

Your wedding day will be a romantic and festive occasion, immersed in that perfect old-time atmosphere that will make it absolutely perfect. And this can only happen if you pick the perfect destination: the romantic villages in Italy

And now let’s take a look at some of the most romantic villages in Italy. How would you like to get married in one of these amazing locations?

Our first stop had to be Tuscany, of course. We start our journey in the quaint and romantic village of Certaldo Alto, famous, among other things, for being Giovanni Boccaccio’s home-town. This old hamlet is located on a hill in Val d’Elsa, not far from Firenze, in a part of the region that is renowned for its beautiful and lush vineyards and olive tree groves. The main building in the village is the majestic castle, overlooking the valley. The medieval origin of the village is still visible, not only in its architectural structure, but also in its unique and timeless atmosphere.

Borgo della Merluzza is an ancient village in the countryside, on the outskirts of Rome, only a short drive away from the city centre, and it has a sort of nostalgic charm about it. It offers a wide choice of vast spaces and large venues, that will allow you to plan large, elegant and exclusive wedding receptions. You could book the ample local park, the swimming pool and a number of indoors venues. This village looks like time has not affected it in the slightest and it will give your event a unique, authentic and intense vibe.

Antico Borgo di Votigo is one of the most beautiful medieval settlements in Italy. Located on the rolling hills of Emilia Romagna, it still has most of its original stone buildings. The small square at the centre is at the centre of its whole life and the local church is as small as it is beautiful. At night, it all looks like it came straight out of a fairy-tale book. Your wedding in Antico Borgo di Votigo will be nothing short of a fascinating and romantic journey back in time.
