HOW TO PLAN A WINE-THEMED WEDDING

Dear friends, we have been exploring the many possibilities of themed weddings for a while and we think it’s time we talked about wine-themed wedding. Wine as a theme for a wedding ceremony has been enjoying a growing popularity among young couples, allowing for imaginative interpretations. The overall look and feel of a wine-themed wedding may vary greatly, depending on the couple’s style and taste for presentation. Autumn, of course, is the ideal season to be considering wine as a theme for your wedding reception.

We have already mentioned how dark shades of red, such as auburn and burgundy, are instrumental in creating the perfect atmosphere for a fall-themed wedding, particularly if you make ample use of wooden elements in the decor. Dark reds, of course, are also suggestive of the taste and bouquet of good, rich wines.

There’s a strong and ancient wine culture in Italy, deeply rooted in local customs and traditions.

Why has a wine-themed wedding become such a popular choice recently? For a number of reasons. Wine is a big deal in Italy: we are known to have a penchant for beautiful things, particularly beautiful things that taste great and wine, it has to be said, ticks all the boxes. If you announce your wedding to be wine-themed, it is only natural that your guests should expect a delicious feast matched by outstanding vintages and therefore you should take the time to select the kind of wines you will be serving with the utmost care.

Ideas for your wine-themed wedding

Let’s start at the very beginning and talk about WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENTS. You can pick a predominant wine-related colour or you can let your imagination run wild.

You will literally just need to be drinking red wine while you write your wedding announcements and let a few drops fall on the cards, as shown in the picture.

If you are willing to try something a little more sophisticated, you could also have your wedding announcements printed as bottle labels and surprise your friends by sending them your announcements not in the form of traditional cards, but in the form of actual wine bottles.

 

The TABLEAU DE MARIAGE is another element that will allow you to get creative with your wine-themed wedding. Depending on your personal taste, you might experiment with different solutions. In this instance, we went for a rustic country style, because it just fits so well with the fall season and with the trends that are going to be big in 2017.

You could choose escort cards or a traditional tableau with the guests’ names and table disposition. Printing table numbers and guests names on wine bottle labels is a rather neat, simple and elegant solution, particularly if you the place them in wooden wine-crates.

 

The TABLE is where you really get to be creative with the decor for your wine-themed wedding. You will need but a few key elements in order to make it smart and beautiful. An imperial style oak-wood table is of course a perfect choice.

Decor is also instrumental in creating the atmosphere and you might also want to make an unusual and stunning centrepiece out of wine bottles or wine-crates filled with autumn flowers. Tableware should be wine-themed too: burgundy napkins are a nice, elegant touch. It goes without saying that the location you choose is paramount: the ideal setting for a wine-themed wedding is an Italian vineyard or a fragrant wine-cellar.
