HOW TO ORGANIZE A FALL WEDDING

Dear friends, as we reluctantly waved the summer away, we welcomed the fall. We decided for our weekly newsletter to present to you: How to plan a fall wedding.

The fall brings colors and warmth that inspire many weddings. This means an important change in style compared to the spring/summer season that requires more creativity and freshness. To fully take advantage of this, you should choose something from this season that represents you and makes your wedding adequate to the surrounding seasonal environment.

The first image that springs to mind when we think about the fall is a forest, enchanted, fairy-tale like, with a mysterious atmosphere. A walk amongst vibrant and colourful leaves, freshly-fallen from the trees, surrounded by a wild yet calm habitat. A warm, magic and multicoloured atmosphere that captivates us.

Holding a wedding during this season is like requesting colours for your personal “wedding palette”: as always, harmony is an essential ingredient, along with including decorations and colours that spark reminders of fall.

Brown and orange and red are the main hues used to give the atmosphere a warm feel, bringing back sweet and distant memories of roasted chestnuts. The warmth will also make its way to the hearts of all the romantics.

Why not organise a wedding during this season?

The season should be factored into every aspect of wedding planning, including the menu.Having left the hot summer days behind us, the choices will be richer and the calorie count will probably increase. The ideal choice is a succulent menu, that includes wild game matched with a nice glass of red wine.

Another advantage for couples that are bold enough to go for a fall wedding, is the higher availability of venues that might otherwise be overbooked. Prices also tend to be lower in this season.

Fall, with its peculiar atmosphere and shorter daylight span. allows for a more liberal use of lights in the decor, whether they be candles or warm lights that increase the mysterious and magical feel which is so easily recreated during fall.

For the CEREMONY, whether it be a religious union or a civil one, you’ll have to choose the ring holders. You will have a variety of options, ranging from custom made wooden holders to small cushions wrapped in seasonal leaves. Decorate your catwalk with warm, colourful petals and you can add an original twist by including pumpkins along the catwalk.

The BOUQUET is my favourite feature of a fall wedding. The available colours and flowers are absolutely stunning. In the gallery below you can see a few examples of floral compositions with warm autumnal hue.

For the TABLEAU DE MARIAGE you will be able to let your creativity run wild. As always the dominant colours should be the main hues of the season in question. Apples and pomegranates could be a good choice to decorate your table. Another fundamental aspect of this wedding theme is wood. This is a beautiful example of a simple yet stunning tableau de mariage.

Now we can discuss the decorations for the TABLES. A beautiful table for this season is the “unfinished wood imperial table”. This creates a simple yet stunning look, one of my personal favourite designs.

Warm colours are used here too, for the Mise en Place I personally like a vintage style, which also evokes that warm feeling that we associate with this season. The choices for the center-pieces are endless. Candles are also an adequate option as the low light after sunset and the cool temperatures allow it.

Since, as we mentioned, LIGHTING is paramount during this season, here are some lovely examples of lighting design in perfect harmony with nature and its colours.

I do believe candles are essential decorations, that’s why I suggest that, during Fall, pull all the stoppers when it comes to your choice of lighting. Only one rule, do not use LED lights, the light of white candles will always be a better choice.

Last but not least, behold the queen of the party, the CAKE: simple and decorated with few essential symbols of the fall.

In conclusion, remeber

Fill your chosen location with warmth and colour, whether it be outdoors or a warm and snug indoor location. Wood, lanterns, flowers and leaves will create the right atmosphere. Few decorations, strategically positioned, will  intensify the overall aesthetics and the surrounding nature. As always, Less is More
