Let’s discover the best wedding dresses that have been shown in movies and that struck our hearts

Hello Friends and welcome! Last night, as I left the office and walked home, I crossed paths with a little girl who looked about 7 or 8. She was telling her mother how beautiful the Disney character Ariel’s wedding dress was, and how much she would have wanted the same dress for her wedding.

Call it professional distortion, but I couldn’t resist to stop and listen, while thinking that also Lady Diana, and her stylists, David and Elisabeth Emanuel, had also loved the very same dress. I also thought about all of you, grown little girls. As if Disney cartoons weren’t enough,  we have also had plenty of inspiration from television and cinema.  Many famous dresses have gone down in history and inspired soon-to-be brides and fashion enthusiasts. Unforgettable and wonderful fairy tale dresses displayed in film that that held us glued to the big screen.

This is where, today, with you, I would like to fantasize e remember the best wedding dresses seen in movies that won me over.

Without a doubt, my favourite wedding dress is Vivienne Westwood, worn by the unlucky Carrie in the Sex and The City movie, in the scene where Mr. Big decides to abandon her at the altar leading to catastrophic consequences. Thanks to Sarah Jessica Parker, the stylist was introduced to the bridal world. Westwood, in 2007, signed what went on to become the most desired wedding dresses in cinema history. In avory coloured silk, with a a tight corset and wide skirt, made up of various tulles, became so famous, to bring the prominent fashion designer to reproduce it in her London Atelier making a dream-come-true for many women.

The stylist all the younger people love nowadays is Carolina Herrera who designed the dress worn by Bella, the protagonist of the Twilight saga. A romantic wedding dress with charming designs on the back. The stylist says that her inspiration came from the book, the description of the wedding, and of course, the protagonist.

All of the dresses worn by Julia Roberts in the film Runaway Bride are fantastic, but I must admit my favourite is the classic princess-style dress. Simple but very elegant, in satin and silk except for the tulle see-through décolleté.  All credit goes to costumist Albert Wolsky.

During the second season of Gossip Girl, at the second wedding ceremony between Blair and Chuck, with a divine turquoise lace vintage style dress, The stylist, Elie Saab outdone herself. Having chosen a shade of blue, Blair’s arch nemesis Serena, goes for a gold colour dress, designed by Georges Chakra. Last but not least we couldn’t possibly forget Katie Holmes in Miss Meadows and her vintage dress. A fantastic single-shoulder dress all lace, with a small belt around the hips to highlight the bodice. The subtle ruffles are only distinguished thanks to the various embroideries. Fabulous!

Whether in vintage style, glamorous, timeless or full of ruffles is not important. Each dress makes us dream and gives emotions.

Friends, you just need to call best-men and bridesmaids, sit on the couch, turn on the TV and choose the dress that most represents yourself
